A Sim Week with Andrew Wiggins
In the lead up to the All Star Weekend, the were murmurings that LA Clippers Shooting Guard Andrew Wiggins was on his way to the deserts of Phoenix in a deal that saw talented youngster Justice Winslow & shooting big man Brook Lopez dealt to the Clippers.
In what looked to be a straight forward deal, there was a hold up as the Clippers Executive, Lumely, rearranged his roster to save on owner expenditure. After a prolonged wait and an exciting All Star Weekend, Wiggins joined the Western Conference’s leading team as they embarked upon the second half to their season.

Wiggins made an impressive debut for the Suns with an efficient 19 point outing while minimising the damage inflicted by his opponent. In addition, to a strong scoring performance Wiggins also collected 11 rebounds and received praise from GM Footy in the post game.

Wiggins second game saw him face off against the leagues best team on their home court, the Brooklyn Nets. The Suns as a team played fantastically and contributions were received across the board. Yet another efficient scoring performance from Wiggins highlighted his strengths in a team that required an improved offensive firepower. Wiggins opponent, Lavert, was able to score but had a highly inefficient and turnover prone night

The baptism of fire continued to Wiggins in his 3rd game as he faced off against the leagues number 1 shooting guard James Harden. Yet again, Wiggins was outstanding with a highly efficient 23 points and his rebound, assist & steals highlight his versatility across the lineup. Harden led the Grizzlies in scoring but it was a difficult scoring night for him

Wiggins first week with the Suns ended with an impressive team win as they blew the Mavericks out in Dallas. Wiggins individual performance was not as memorable as his previous outings but his opponent, Victor Oladipo, also struggled.
Verdict: This matchup was a tie
For the sim Wiggins averaged 16.8ppg, 6.3 rpg & 2.8 apg. These are endearing numbers for a ‘5th type starter’ on the Suns and addition of Wiggins should provide the Suns with further flexibility in readiness for the playoffs.
