We are just one day away from the trade deadline and the end of the regular season is fast approaching. Let’s check in on the MVP race! We are going to go in reverse order here.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
15. C.J. McCollum - 76ers
30 ppg - 4.8 rpg - 3.9 apg - 1.5 spg - 0.3 bpg - 2.2 topg
48% FG - 40% 3P - 79% FT
14. Hassan Whiteside - Timberwolves
18.3 ppg - 13.5 rpg - 1.3 apg - 0.8 spg - 2.9 bpg - 1.7 topg
47% FG - 67% 3P - 62% FT
13. Paul George - Lakers
26.5 ppg - 7.7 rpg - 3.9 apg - 2.1 spg - 0.3 bpg - 2.9 topg
47% FG - 37% 3P - 79% FT
12. Joel Embiid - Heat
24.4 ppg - 12.3 rpg - 3.1 apg - 1.1 spg - 1.6 bpg - 3.5 topg
48% FG - 33% 3P - 77% FT
11. Jayson Tatum - Hawks
25.7 ppg - 6.4 rpg - 1.8 apg - 1.4 spg - 0.5 bpg - 2 topg
47% FG - 41% 3P - 74% FT
THE TOP 10
10. Kemba Walker - Magic
25.8 ppg - 3.7 rpg - 3 apg - 1.4 spg - 0.1 bpg - 2.2 topg
49% FG - 42% 3P - 86% FT
Kemba was one of the better picks in the creation draft, going well outside of the top-10 but providing top-10 production and a playoff spot for Orlando.
9. LeBron James - Thunder
31.2 ppg - 10.4 rpg - 6.4 apg - 2.3 spg - 0.4 bpg - 2.4 topg
47% FG - 33% 3P - 72% FT
The King has great stats but low three point shooting and lackluster defense knocks him to the lower part of the top 10. He’s been able to rely on Curry to carry OKC at times. Still, probably the best player on a 1-seed.
8. James Harden - Grizzlies
30.4 ppg - 6.1 rpg - 4 apg - 2.5 spg - 0.6 bpg - 3.5 topg
53% FG - 39% 3P - 85% FT
Harden is a top-5 player, but being on Kawhis team causes him to split the vote. Plus – those turnovers! He’s helped Memphis to the top-two Eastern Conference record.
7. Deandre Ayton - Pelicans
20.6 ppg - 12.4 rpg - 2 apg - 0.8 spg - 1.4 bpg - 1.7 topg
49% FG - 38% 3P - 77% FT
Ayton has delivered a top two seed to New Orleans, and looks like the most promising do-it-all young big man in the game. He is poised to dominate the league for a decade plus.
6. Klay Thompson - Celtics
26.2 ppg - 5.1 rpg - 3.1 apg - 1.4 spg - 0.5 bpg - 2.3 topg
49% FG - 46% 3P - 84% FT
The second splash brother is lighting it up for Boston and has them looking at a top-4 seed out East.
5. Anthony Davis - Rockets
25.7 ppg - 11.4 rpg - 3.2 apg - 1.2 spg - 2.5 bpg - 2.6 topg
49% FG - 40% 3P - 71% FT
Davis is the more mature version of Ayton. He’s been dragging Houston along all season and gives them some playoff hopes.
4. Stephen Curry - Thunder
28.2 ppg - 3 rpg - 7 apg - 1.9 spg - 0.2 bpg - 2.3 topg
52% FG - 49% 3P - 87% FT
Steph has lit it up all year for the very best team in the West, and the team with the best point differential in the whole league.
3. Kevin Durant - Suns
31.5 ppg - 7.4 rpg - 6 apg - 1.7 spg - 1.2 bpg - 2.7 topg
49% FG - 43% 3P - 85% FT
The Suns are third in the West, and would be higher if KD was on their squad all season. He can do anything and everything on the court.
2. Kawhi Leonard - Grizzlies
32.2 ppg - 8.6 rpg - 4.6 apg - 2.5 spg - 0.5 bpg - 2.5 topg
51% FG - 41% 3P - 83% FT
The Klaw has been on another level this season and was my pick for best player in the league coming into the season. He’s got Memphis looking like a finals contender.
1. Kyrie Irving - Nets
33.1 ppg - 5.4 rpg - 3.6 apg - 1.5 spg - 0.3 bpg - 1.9 topg
52% FG - 44% 3P - 85% FT
Kyrie has been the best player in the sim this season, leading the Nets to the best record in the league. His scoring and efficiency is unmatched, and throwing in his low turnover numbers just takes the cake. Most importantly, he plays point guard which is harder to fill than any other position and is prone to the most turnovers. That’s why Kyrie is my (current) MVP pick!
