The Bucks had a busy offseason!
They looked to improve anyway they could after this past season. Bucks expected to be decent to start the year with the talent they had in place however, it was a lotto season. Bucks secured the number seven overall pick. Which for us is works in our favor, securing another great young prospect to put next to budding star Isaac Okoro. Last season the Bucks did what they could to focus all their energy working with Okoro, and with a nice TC, Okoro is looking like he could blossom this year. The Bucks made a few moves before seasons end, trading Saric for veteran Aldridge, and then brining in another veteran in Lou Williams, the scoring spark. Bucks mainly just wanted to get rid of some contracts, and secure some cap space for free agency. Lou Williams was a force, signed during the season and averaged fifteen points by seasons end. He provided this team with veteran leadership, and helped guys like Okoro get established. Bam Adebayo the star of this squad has been a key role in winning some games, Bucks thought they could win more with Westbrook, Batum, and company but it was not enough. Bam is a free agent this offseason, Bucks will either look to resign him or just trade him before the deadline. It will be an interesting season for the Bucks for sure. It will be another season for development of guys, and getting this new young talent to gel together.
Patrick Baldwin Jr SF 19 6'10'' 200 C B+ C C+ C+ A
Coming in this season we have the number seven pick, who is quite the talent. He’s listed as a SF, but is a staggering 6’10” which will be a fantastic asset for him in this league, and for the Bucks. He is also a great outside shooter which is what he does best. Coming into the league he has a B+ outside, and at six foot ten he can really spread the floor for this squad. He still needs some development to work on his scoring, but once we can work with him fully, we hope he can become a force in this league.
Jamal Murray SG 25 6'4'' 207 B- B+ B- C+ D+ B
The next addition we have on the list is Jamal Murray a forceful scorer, who had a nice training camp, he is poised to come in and just bring a scoring option to the Bucks, with his scoring ability along-side Okoro, we have a pretty young team. Murray has a B+ outside rating along with Baldwin Jr, making them both snipers from outside. Murray we hope will bring up his scoring average from this past season. Murray averaged eleven points in twenty minutes of play all while shooting fifty percent from three point land. He will be poised to become a leader on this squad. We plan to develop Murray the best we can, it’s going to take some time but we can manage all this young talent. Also on a very friendly contract for four years.
Markelle Fultz PG 24 6'3'' 200 B C A- B+ D+ C
Next addition is the young point guard Markelle Fultz, a nice young point guard with good scoring ability who is on a very friendly contract for three years. Only twenty four years old, hoping to bud with Murray on the wing. Fultz is a good inside scorer who struggles on the perimeter, but he makes up for it in his handles and defensive ability. We hope he can take the reins for this team. Fultz will start at point guard for the Bucks to start the year. Payton is also back on a nice deal and possess the same skills as Fultz, Payton is just older. He will provide experience for the young Fultz.
Alex Antetokounmpo SF 20 6'6'' 214 C+ C- C+ C+ C A
Next on the list we have a very raw prospect who was signed undrafted Alex Antetokounmpo who is the youngest brother of Giannis a star in this league. The young six foot six small forward, is a prospect for us, hopefully he can bud into a decent role player for us. Got him on a rookie deal for the cheap so why not take a shot at him, TC wasn’t bad to him. Hopefully he can still rise.
Mac McClung PG 21 6'2'' 175 B- B- C C+ C- B
Another young buck added to the list was the high flying Mac McClung from Georgetown/Texas Tech. He is arguably a very late first or top second rounder but he was cut in a surprise move. I figured we should take a shot at him in free agency and we were able to snag him on a rookie deal, which is nice considering he had a pretty good training camp. Adding him to a B- B- in scoring which is nice. We plan to camp him and maybe turn him into something, hopefully next season his TC is good. I like that he was able to add B- outside during TC, which will help us in our outside offense. However, we have a crowded point guard slot, but we want to get him some minutes.
Fred VanVleet PG 28 6'1'' 195 C B+ B- B D- B
On the way out is Westbrook, he just didn’t fit with us. He is also getting older, and his contract was large so we needed to move on. We are bringing in Fred VanVleet who is a good outside shooter far better than Westbrook with about the same scoring production. He will fit in well at shooting guard back up and point guard, he will make a great sixth man this year.
So now we look forward to leftover free agents, with a bunch of nice guys left. Most guys I guess didn’t want to accept or just didn’t find the right deal, Bucks hope they can swoop in and grab someone big. We are excited for the future of this team, we want to make the playoffs soon. Our goal is to become a force in the league. It will take some times to do so. Right now we are focused on better production from out young guys, development, and just building from the draft. Bam might be on his way out for a nice haul hopefully, we shall see.
Catch Bucks updates next time.
