The Emergence of McClung
The Bucks stumbled upon McClung in not the draft or the second round but free agency. The young point guard was cut as a second round pick. Bucks had their eyes on him during the draft, and was bummed when he was taken. However, a team decided to cut him opening up an opportunity to add him. McClung signed with the Bucks in free agency along with Alex Antetokounmpo both on two year rookie minimum deals. So this gives them one TC with the Bucks to see how they might fair in the future seasons. The Bucks don’t have anything to play for right now except for the draft. Which should be pretty deep. The Bucks have two picks in this year’s draft which both could potentially be lotto picks. Bucks look to shoot for a top five pick hopefully. The seventh pick last season, we hope to draft around the same position. Bucks want to win, but it takes time. We got the young pieces. Anyway back to McClung. The Bucks saw this young point guard have a few good games off the bench averaging nine points in like twenty minutes. So the Bucks decided to start him, let him develop the second half of the season. In doing so landed him the starting point guard job on the Rookie team this season. Rookies take the win scoring one hundred and twenty points. During the rookie game he scored sixteen points in only twenty six minutes not too shabby for a chance to show out. Outside of the Topflight Rookie-Sophomore game, McClung participated and was runner up in the Topflight Dunk Contest behind Zion Williamson. It was a nice surprise seeing McClung have a nice All-Star Weekend. McClung is a high flyer from college, hopefully he can come into his own in the NBA. We plan to work with him directly on shooting, defense, and building his basketball IQ even further. McClung is a nice prospect, this Bucks team is full of them. We hope that we can develop as many of them as possible, and find that next team leader behind Okoro, Murray, and Fultz. McClung has a few guys he could learn a lot from, especially from players at his positions. These guys have been helping McClung a lot, and building up his confidence. The kid is pretty good, and super athletic. We hope that his athleticism can propel him into stardom in this league. Who knows, we didn’t know he would be this good at this stage. Bucks didn’t even think he would be available. So we are taking chances on him, and we hope he can blossom alongside all this other young talent. We look to the future in Milwaukee. McClung could be the new face to lead this team, and become either a floor general or an explosive sparkplug kind of like Westbrook was.
McClung is currently averaging for his rookie year:
